Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan: customs offices ratification bill approved in two readings
On 21 October 2026, Kazakhstan’s Kurultai approved in two readings a bill to ratify an agreement with Uzbekistan on opening customs representative offices. The agreement was signed in Tashkent on 15 November 2025.
The document provides for the exchange of customs information and coordination between the competent authorities of the two countries.
What this means for shipments from Kazakhstan
For companies shipping goods to Uzbekistan or planning transit through its territory, this is an update on cooperation between customs authorities. Approval of the bill does not mean that the offices have already opened or that new clearance procedures are in force.
The announcement gives neither a start date for the offices nor new requirements for carriers. Delivery schedules should therefore not assume faster border clearance solely on this news: documentation and clearance arrangements need to be checked for the specific route and cargo.
